The Southport State School Parents and Citizens Association operates our tuckshop service for students and staff 5 days per week. Our tuckshop is called the 'Snack Shack' and proudly meets all requirements of the Green and Healthy Schools Program and the Smart Choices Program. Queensland Association of School Tuckshops (QAST) rated us with a fantastic 5 green apples, the best award a tuckshop can receive for healthy food.
The Snack Shack provides a range of healthy foods for all students to purchase. Angelique, our convener, makes the most wonderful homemade curry, pizzas, pasta, salads, sandwiches and baked goods.
The preferred method of ordering is online through the Qkr app before 9am each week day. We are cashless, however do offer students at second break to opportunity to purchase items with cash as we believe this helps develop important life skills.
We have 2 service periods each day:
First Break:
11:25am – 11:35am meals are collected from the Snack Shack by tuckshop monitors.
Second Break:
1:35pm – 1:55pm students are able to purchase snacks and treats over the counter, or collect pre-orders from Qkr.
The Snack Shack, along with the help of Year 6 students, facilitates morning toast for those who are still a little hungry before school. This is proudly donated by Foodbank Australia.
We welcome volunteers in our Snack Shack. If you would like to volunteer for in the morning food preparation tasks, please drop in and see Angelique in the Snack Shack or email her using the email address below. Any assistance is much appreciated, and you can help out weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We are also an approved Centrelink voluntary work organisation.
