​At Southport State School, our curriculum is designed to empower learners and enrich futures. We believe that it is the right of every child to access an education appropriate to their needs. Our curriculum is designed to develop successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens who are ready to participate in society.

Our curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum​ ​and guided by the P-12 Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting Framework. The Australian Curriculum gives teachers and students more consistent standards in all schools nationwide, and an updated, contemporary 21st century curriculum. It sets out the core knowledge, understanding, skills and general capabilities that are important for all Australian students.

At Southport State School, we offer all eight Learning Areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities and social sciences
  • Health and physical education
  • The arts
  • Technologies: design and digital
  • Languages (Year 5 and 6: Chinese).

Specialist teachers deliver the curriculum in:

  • Humanities and social sciences
  • Technologies
  • Health and physical education
  • ​The arts (music, dance and drama).​
