Our Vision

The Southport State School P&C Association is a group of volunteers who support the school. We raise money to improve school facilities and buy extra resources for students.

We do this by running events such as discos, fun runs, stalls, and family events. We also help with school events like the Art Show, Multicultural Day, and the end-of-year concert, Evening on the Lawn.

School Businesses Operated by the P&C

The P&C runs three main school services: OSHC (Outside School Hours Care), the Snack Shack, and the Uniform Shop. This helps keep prices affordable for families. Any profit made goes back to the school to help students and families.

How Fundraising Supports Our School

Money raised by the P&C, along with grants and profits from school services, has helped pay for important things at the school. These include cold water drinking fountains, air conditioning, playgrounds, library resources, and improvements to the Uniform Shop, OSHC, and the Snack Shack. Each year, the P&C also gives money to support school improvement projects. Parents and caregivers who join the P&C can help decide how this money is used.

Parent Groups and Programs

The P&C helps build a strong school community through groups and activities. We run a free Playgroup in the OSHC building every Tuesday during school term, from 9am to 11am. Children aged 0 to 5 are welcome. No booking is needed, just ask at the school office.

We also run Parent Hub, which meets every Wednesday from 9am to 11am in the OSHC room. This group is for all parents and family members who are new to the school, want to connect with other parents at the school, or those learning English. No booking is needed, just ask at the school office.

P&C Meetings and Participation

P&C meetings are held in the P&C Volunteers room (enter through the Uniform Shop). Meetings are held twice each term. Everyone in the school community is welcome to come. You can share ideas about fundraising, volunteering, and school improvements during the general business part of the meeting.

Meeting dates will also be displayed on the electronic board outside the front school gates and in the newsletter. You can also email comms.secretary@pcsouthportss.school for more information about meeting dates and if you have any questions.

It is free to join the P&C. You can apply using the QKR app. If you join, you will automatically receive invitations to meetings.

Free childcare is available during the meeting through OSHC, if places are available. To book childcare, please email comms.secretary@pcsouthportss.school before the meeting.

Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome volunteers to help in the Snack Shack or at our regular fundraising events like the stalls and discos. Volunteering is a good way to meet people, enjoy being involved, and support your child's school community. Email comms.secretary@pcsouthportss.school for more information about how to get involved.

Volunteer Blue Cards

To volunteer at events, you will need to hold a valid QLD Blue Card, which is free for volunteers and can be applied for on the QLD Blue Card website.
